Analyse and pilot shared virtual and physical infrastructure for the post secondary institutions in Alberta. This includes determining and testing whether data centre space at University of Calgary (south) and University of Alberta (north) can be leveraged using existing (e.g. SuperNet) or enhanced networks (e.g. SuperNet Dark Fibre, Cybera) to house linked virtual infrastructure and co-location that can provide basic hosting, disaster recovery, business continuity and IT services for all post secondaries in Alberta. This is expected to avoid future IT compliance costs, reduce institutional risk, increase reliability and performance and reduce overall system IT expenditures.
